Celebrating Connections at the Little Tokyo/Arts District Station

Next stop: Little Tokyo/Arts District Station community celebration!

Metro Art invites you to explore these downtown Los Angeles communities that are now easily accessible via rail. This free event, Celebrating Connections, includes food, interactive workshops, tours highlighting neighborhood cultural organizations and businesses and a Metro Art Presents music festival on Saturday, September 9, 2023 between 12:30-4:30pm.

Hosted at Los Angeles Union Station (800 N Alameda St., Los Angeles, CA 90012), MAPPING Performance: 10 Years of Metro Art Presents celebrates with percussion-driven music and dance drawing from Southeast Asian and Afro-Brazilian traditions, bringing the community together in the heart of Los Angeles at the heart of the LA Metro transit system. About the Event Enjoy live music from Grupo Bella and Kingston Ska Collective featuring members of Western Standard Time Ska Orchestra and vocalist Jesse Wagner, programmed by Metro Art Presents for the Union Station Goliday Tree Lighting on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Iconic Union Station will become a hub for the holidays, summoning the sights and sounds of the season with the 7th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony under the stars in the Station’s South Patio. To kick off the season, the historic Station will illuminate a towering 35-foot tree as guests are immersed in thousands of glistening lights on the South Patio while enjoying a free hot cocoa and holiday cookie bar. Metro Art Presents x dublab: Deep Routes

Exploring the overlapping and intersecting musical histories embedded in the Los Angeles landscape and its transit topographies. This free live event at Union Station on SATURDAY, MAY 7, 2022 from 4-8 PM is all about the Deep Routes radio series. Featuring Jimetta Rose and The Voices of Creation, Spiñorita, traditional Tongva songs shared by Jessa and Tina Calderon, Atomic Nancy’s Jukebox and more sounds that span Los Angeles County.

Metro Art Presents Play On!

To celebrate the summer reopening of the much-loved (and always played) public piano at Union Station in Summer 2021, Metro Art Presents premiered a back-to-back week of pop-up piano performances from JULY 19-23, 2021 highlighting Los Angeles-based musicians Brandon Coleman, Jamael Dean, Inna Faliks, Donia Jarrar, and Jonathan Montes. Soundtrips

Metro Art Presents Soundtrips is a collection of transit-inspired sounds and stories to amplify your ride. Created in 2020 and 2021, three program series are compiled in an easy to access playlist for Metro riders’ listening pleasure.

Metro Art x Silkroad Present: Railroad Roots

Metro Art x Silkroad are pleased to present a free event at Los Angeles Union Station on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 6-7:30pm. The evening includes musical performances by Silkroad Artistic Director Rhiannon Giddens, Silkroad artists Wu Man and Haruka Fujii, and guest artist Pura Fé, as well as a discussion about the railroad, the communities who built it, and the people who were displaced and most affected by it.

Deep Routes

A new season of episodes offer new perspectives shared through oral histories with local artists, business owners and community leaders. Episodes traverse sounds from the LA Filipino/a/x Diaspora to the Cumbia Sonidera scene on Broadway to the rave scene in the San Gabriel Valley, and beyond. 🔊 Listen live every 2nd and 4th Monday at 7pm.
