Metro Art Presents

MAPPING Performance: 10 Years of Metro Art Presents

About the Event

Metro Art Presents commemorates 10 years of arts and cultural programming inspired by the greater Los Angeles area and the people Metro serves each day. Hosted at Los Angeles Union Station (800 N Alameda St., Los Angeles, CA 90012), MAPPING Performance: 10 Years of Metro Art Presents celebrates this milestone with percussion-driven music and dance drawing from Southeast Asian and Afro-Brazilian traditions, bringing the community together in the heart of Los Angeles at the heart of the LA Metro transit system.

Saturday, June 24, 2023 will feature Southeast Asian traditions and diasporic artists who bring their cultural backgrounds into contemporary practices, while Sunday, June 25, 2023 – which will be highly participatory – highlights Afro-Brazilian traditions, such as capoeira, which blends music, dance, and acrobatics, as well as samba-reggae.

From dancers to DJs to rock bands, Metro Art Presents invites the community to witness how Angelenos draw from their varied cultural backgrounds and traditions to create contemporary performing arts.
