Inspired by the eclectic atmosphere of the NoHo Arts District, Abramovic has depicted the comedy, musicals and cabarets featured at the Whitefire, El Portal, Secret Rose and Raven theatres.
All Exhibitions
In addition to integrating artwork at all Metro stations, we also offer transit riders the opportunity to engage with a wide variety of artworks through multiple exhibition series. The unique, site-specific formats range from neighborhood posters and photography to community art banners and most recently on TAP cards and digital screens at station platforms.
Pacoima
Levi Ponce depicts his hometown of Pacoima where Van Nuys Boulevard blooms with local residents enjoying street art, eateries and new community infrastructure.
Pasadena
Renowned for fostering parades and festivals, Pasadena is represented in a whimsical procession of playful characters marching through his hometown.
Pico Rivera
Ramirez’s depicts Pico Rivera with palm trees in silhouette against a glowing sunset sky.
Pomona
Romero pulls together a wide variety of cultural icons from the city’s history including the LA County Fair, Antique Row, the Arts Colony, the Wally Parks Motorsports Museum, and the goddess of Pomona herself.
Redondo Beach
The sea breeze flows at its own pace through a delightful stretch of shops, merging old and new together info vivid blocks of color.
San Fernando
While there is much to marvel in the 1797 Mission San Fernando, this watercolor invites you to experience a small corner of the garden, with its Roman arch, tiled roof, adobe walls and exposed wooden beams, all elements that remain architectural inspirations in Southern California today.
San Gabriel
Sandra Low’s vision of San Gabriel Dream Connect San Gabriel pairs contemporary features with historical roots in a surreal landscape set before the San Gabriel Mountains and inspired by traditional Chinese landscape painting.
San Pedro
Although now a resident of San Pedro, the artist also drew from her experience as an immigrant who discovered the rich cultural tapestry of San Pedro.
South Coast Botanic Garden
In a whimsical bird’s-eye view, the botanic garden is shown surrounded by waves amid the flourishing Palos Verdes Peninsula.
Temple City
This imagined bookshelf holds mementos of the lives, history, architecture and spirit of the city. An unmarked book represents the stories still to come.

Looking downward from the highest point of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, viewers can see glittering lights that shine like jewels.
Van Nuys
Llanos depicts a series of Valley characters amidst the commercial hub-bub of Victory Boulevard and Van Nuys Boulevard.

Frieden’s playful panorama captures the gamut of fun activities that characterize the canals, beach and boardwalks of this creative community.
Watts
What interests Fernandez most about the Watts Towers is the magical quality of the organic, sculptural walls that surround the historic landmark.
West Hollywood
This colorful collage embraces a city rich with complexity by tracing the memories of the city from the Tongva, to its current diversity of residents and iconic status.
Westlake
Symbols and sculptures from MacArthur Park highlight a common human goal to work with dignity and provide a healthy future for loved ones.
Whittier
The artist pays homage to the city’s namesake as well as the indigenous population who called the land Sejat, meaning “a place of the wild bees.”
Wilmington
The city’s wealth of art and culture—from allusions to classic cars and street art to folklorico performances and musical subgenres as diverse as ska, punk, jazz and mariachi—is highlighted throughout the painting.

Waiting Room Gallery
The Waiting Room Gallery presents exhibitions that engage a broad range of transit patrons and visitors to Union Station. The program creates a memorable, dynamic environment for our customers and encourages the use of public transit.
Harbor Gateway
A colorful collage of urban planning featuring: a multi-lane commercial corridor, Del Amo Avenue; mid-century housing and manicured home niwas (gardens); historic Gardena Blvd and school mascot “easter eggs” from Harbor Gateway schools; and remembrance to those resting at a Memorial Park.
All is Flux
“All is Flux” is a single image (a photogram) capturing the shadows of a stream of water moving across the surface of still water.
Performance on the Streets of LA
“Performance on the Streets of LA” presents an array of street performers (singers, musicians, dancers, dress-up superheroes, counterfeit celebrities, living statues and buskers of every sort) in iconic locations from Pershing Square, Echo Park, Olvera Street and Union Station to Hollywood Boulevard and finally to the Venice Boardwalk.

The Yellow Car and Los Angeles, Metro Art’s exhibition in the Union Station Waiting Room Gallery, offers a fond look back at two foundations of public transit in the region: the “Yellow Cars” of Los Angeles Railway Corporation and the transition to LA’s first years of bus service. Together, these early rail and bus lines shaped the Metro system we have today.
