Although now a resident of San Pedro, the artist also drew from her experience as an immigrant who discovered the rich cultural tapestry of San Pedro. The artwork, like neighborhood has diverse elements and many layers.

Artist Statement

“I want to express the warm Southern California lifestyle, playful and diverse climate, with all the different cultures connecting through community activities, traveling and creativity.”

About the Artist

KAJSA SJODIN was born and raised in Sweden but in recent years as made Los Angeles her home and her studio is located at the Angel’s Gate Art Center in San Pedro. She has exhibited her work both locally and in her home country. She studied and later taught at the Art Student league in New York.

About Through the Eyes of Artists

In the tradition of celebrating transportation through colorful travel destination posters, Metro Art commissions a diverse range of Los Angeles artists to create original artworks for the Through the Eyes of Artists poster series. Established in 2003, the posters are displayed onboard Metro trains and buses.
