Project Description
The artist documents intimate moments between her family and the family’s next generation’s firstborn, Louise, as a way of mourning the loss of her mother Louisa and seeking hope in the future of Louise. This work is a chapter in her long-term family series Three Dots and Tear Drops.

Artist Statement
“Our grief (of losing my mother) could not exist in the same space of our happy new baby wanting our attention. I photographed him as a response to the joyous moments spending time with him after long days at work and school.”
About the Artist
STAR MONTANA is native to Boyle Heights. She received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her work has been exhibited at local institutions such as the Vincent Price Museum in East LA, Art Center in Pasadena and internationally in Brazil, Ecuador and Mexico.
