Marina del Rey

Artist(s):
Lindsay Carron, Marina del Rey

Project Description

Lindsay Carron’s drawing celebrates the biodiversity and family-oriented atmosphere of Marina del Rey. A Snowy Egret overlooks this bustling, seaside neighborhood as a playful pup leaps for a Frisbee® over the Marvin Braude Bike Trail. With the Pacific Ocean to the left and Ballona Creek to the right, cyclists travel among vibrant spring wildflowers across life-giving waters teeming with marine activity. Followed by a flock of hungry gulls, pelicans and sea lions, a fishing boat heads to dock toward Fisherman’s Village (a hub for dining, shopping and entertainment). On the horizon, the San Gabriel Mountains meet a dynamic cloud-filled sky.

This artwork was commissioned for Metro’s Through the Eyes of Artists poster series for display in the fleet.

Artist Statement

“Marina del Rey’s intimacy with water is portrayed…There is a tangible uniqueness of living, working and playing on land that is interwoven with water.”
