We Are… Portraits of Metro Riders by Local Artists

We Are Collage Image with Program Information and Work by Javier Carrillo and Simonette David Jackson

Where do you find inspiration on your journey?

Celebrating the diversity of Los Angeles County and the community of transit riders, We Are…Portraits of Metro Riders by Local Artists is an exhibition that features portraits presented throughout the Metro system and online. Each rider portrait has a story that is personal and universal, intimate and immediate—a single story among the many stories of 840,000 daily riders on Metro, and each told by an artist with ties to neighborhoods served by Metro.

The We Are… exhibition features 35 artworks in the Union Station Passageway Art Gallery, additional artworks in an expanded online gallery and more.

We Are… a community of riders!  Join Metro’s portrait exhibition.  Tag your selfie #SomosWeAreLA and share your journey!

Metro Art’s Rider Portrait series also includes limited edition rider portrait Art on TAP cards, current and upcoming digital displays in Metro stations, the first-ever Metro Art Bus and a We Are… catalogue! In addition, the exhibition is accompanied by all-ages community engagement programs, including tours, online talks and more.
