Project Description
Anthology of Leimert combines footage from three separate days that honors Leimert Park Plaza as an integral third place. Blending footage from an everyday walk in Leimert Park Plaza, a drum circle, and the kickoff event from the Annual Day of the Ancestors, the artwork captures the experience of being in Leimert Park. Placing the drums on center stage, the artwork displays a sense of rhythm that embodies the role of music within the Leimert Park community, and the integral role it plays in creating a sense of belonging.
About the Artist
MOMODU MANSARAY is a Sierra Leonean cinematographer and photographer. He loves creating surreal visual metaphors about Black experiences and stories that seek to answer the question “how can we achieve liberation?”
