Metro Art Presents: Salsa Night at Union Station

Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to feel the beat at Metro Art Presents: Salsa Night at Union Station! On Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 7PM to 10PM enjoy a live performance by the dynamic band La Verdad, led by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Gabriel Gonzalez. The band will perform a vibrant mix of original and traditional salsa, cha-cha, boogaloo, funk, cumbia, and Latin soul, with DJ Tosstones spinning tunes between sets.   Start the evening off with dance lessons led by instructors Laroye Aña and Jhesus Aponte! 💃🏿🕺🏽  RSVP recommended but not required.  Event Details 6:45 PM – Doors Open 7:00 PM – 7:30 PM – Salsa Dance Lesson 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM – Live Music & Social Dancing Los Angeles Union Station Ticketing Concourse 800 N Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012 This event is free and open to the public. Metro Art Presents The Last Repair Shop

Join Metro Art Presents on September 7, 2024, from 7-10pm for a free screening of The Last Repair Shop including a conversation and live musical performance. The Last Repair Shop is an Oscar-winning documentary short about L.A.’s craftspeople who keep the city’s music alive.

LACMA and Metro Art Present An Evening with Ken Gonzales-Day

Join Metro Art-commissioned artist Ken Gonzales-Day and LACMA curators Eve Schillo, Associate Curator of the Wallis Annenberg Photography Department, and Rita Gonzalez, Terri and Michael Smooke Curator and Department Head of Contemporary Art, as they delve into Gonzales-Day's latest artwork, Urban Excavation: Ancestors, Avatars, Bodhisattvas, Buddhas, Sages, Spirits, Symbols, and Other Objects. This site-specific installation, in process for the future Metro Wilshire/Fairfax station, draws inspiration from LACMA's extensive permanent collection. Learn about the collaborative relationship between Gonzales-Day, LACMA, and Metro in creating a new public artwork for the Los Angeles County transit system in this enlightening conversation.
