The bombastically fly Astra Marie may just as easily be on an intergalactic grocery run via LAX as she may be off to work as a performer, body-positivity pioneer or decolonizing architect.
About the Artist
APRIL BEY is a Los Angeles–based artist and educator whose interdisciplinary work critiques American and Bahamian culture, especially related to the African diaspora. Bey is a tenured Glendale Community College professor, and her work has been exhibited internationally. She earned a BFA from Ball State University and an MFA from California State University, Northridge.
