Project Description
The Poet portrays Kamau, an instrumental figure in Leimert Park’s cultural renaissance. The poet, musician, educator and South LA community activist helped establish the World Stage performance art space and worked with the Watts Writers Workshop and Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra.
About the Artist
SAMUEL PACE is a Los Angeles–based artist inspired by jazz and blues. He credits his parents for encouraging his artistic development. Pace’s paintings have been exhibited throughout Los Angeles and commissioned for numerous events, including the Vancouver Wine and Jazz Festival and the Playboy Jazz Festival.
