Project Description
Today We Ride is a portrait of the artist’s partner and longtime friend during an outing on their bikes. Speaking to a sense of unified community found when taking the train, the scene captures friendship and new encounters, as exemplified by the travelers in the background and smiling friends.
About the Artist
MELLY TROCHEZ (b. Los Angeles, CA) is a Honduran-American artist who bridges storytelling, social healing, and community empowerment through mixed media paintings. Her work is vibrant, saturated in color, texture and design as she is influenced by textiles, fashion and collage. Her body of work often juxtaposes lightheartedness with heavier subjectivity.
