  • On the Street: Urban Sketching with Sandow Birk (In-Person)

    Join Metro-commissioned artist and urban sketcher Sandow Birk for a three-hour sketching workshop on the streets of Westwood. Birk will draw and discuss sketching in the urban environment and how this process informs the design of his artwork for the future Westwood/VA Hospital Metro Station. See some of the local sights and landmarks Sandow is including in this site-specific artwork. Materials will be provided. This class is outdoors, requires walking throughout the neighborhood, and is subject to weather.

Learn about Simeti’s artwork in-progress and create sketches and collages inspired by the garden.   • Meet the Artist Eamon Ore-Giron

    Meet Metro Art commissioned artist Eamon Ore-Giron, who will give a talk about his art practice and his artwork for the future Wilshire/La Brea Station. He will be joined by Josh Kun, cultural historian, USC Vice Provost for the Arts, and USC Annenberg Professor, who will present on the cultural and architectural history of the Wilshire Corridor and how it relates to Ore-Giron’s design for the station. Following the presentation, Ore-Giron and Kun will lead a short walking tour of four of the historic buildings that inspired the artwork.
