This temporary mural project, Adventures of the Imagination, featured four sections of painted plywood fencing depicting palm trees, stars, and classic cartoon characters interacting with transportation vehicles. The images were drawn by local elementary school children from Oxnard Street School, Rio Vista School, and Valley View School. The four panels were interspersed with neutral wall sections painted green. Located directly across from Universal Studios and MCA’s corporate offices on Lankershim Blvd., the project celebrated the celestial wonder and colorful imagination of visionaries of all ages “who inspire us to reach for the stars!” Artist Dawna Stromsoe collaborated with Graffiti Signs and Graphics in the fabrication of the images.
This project was commissioned and funded by MCA, Inc.
“My work is about providing kids with the time and space to hope, dream and express themselves freely, to provide a forum for voicing their hopes and concerns for the world they will one day inherit.”
