SUMMARY:Journeys by Bike: Community Ride from East Hollywood
DESCRIPTION:> RSVP on Eventbrite required\nMetro Art x Metro Bike Share present a community bike ride on Saturday\, May 4\, 2024 from 10:30am-1pm. This multimodal ride celebrates Bike Month and will include walking\, cycling\, and riding Metro rail as a group. \nWalk: The event will begin with a walking tour of Hollywood/Western Station\, which features station artwork by May Sun. \nRoll: Visitors will then ride by bike to East Hollywood\, the neighborhood that inspired Ana Serrano’s artwork in the Journeys Continued… exhibition at Union Station. The exhibition weaves together decades of artists’ visions of neighborhoods across LA County – all accessible by Metro – and the ride connects two rail stations by bike! \nRide: After the bike ride\, we will then return to Hollywood/Western Station from Union Station via the Metro B (Red) Line. SUMMARY:ON VIEW: Journeys Continued: LA Communities Through the Eyes of Artists
DESCRIPTION:Journeys Continued… LA Communities Through the Eyes of Artists builds on an exhibition presented in 2017 and focuses on neighborhoods and cities within Los Angeles County “through the eyes of artists.” Local artists capture the look and feel of each community from a personal perspective\, highlighting special\, surprising and/or lesser-known facets of that place. Neighborhood parks\, street food vendors\, family bicycle rides and local landmarks along daily commutes are among the subjects for these distinctive works of art. \nFollowing in the tradition of colorful travel destination posters\, the artworks are part of an award-winning series presented originally as posters in the Metro fleet that encourages riders to explore the neighborhoods that the expanding Metro system serves.   \nStarted in 2003\, the Through the Eyes of Artists series is now in its 20th year. Journeys Continued… is part of the special anniversary celebrations. Twelve of the 63 artworks are currently featured in the Union Station Passageway.
