DESCRIPTION:Here: Arts & Culture Along the K is a multimedia art exhibition showcasing the Metro Art K Line art program at the Museum of African American Art at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. \nHere honors what has been\, what is present and what is possible. Along with the exhibition\, a companion publication has been developed to celebrate arts and culture along the K Line through Metro Art commissions and collaborations shaped by over 150 arts and cultural organizations\, artists and creatives responding to distinct neighborhoods with bold imagination. The publication is available for free at the museum\, while supplies last. \nThe exhibition is a celebration of artists\, cultural producers and culture bearers connected by the K Line and marks the first anniversary of Metro ‘s K Line service through the neighborhoods of Crenshaw\, West Adams\, Jefferson Park\, Baldwin Hills\, Leimert Park\, Hyde Park\, Inglewood\, Westchester and more.   \nArtworks on view include works by Alexis Hunley\, Carlson Hatton\, Dean Erdmann\, Eileen Cowin\, Erwin Redl\, Geoff McFetridge\, Giovanni Solis\, Ingrid Calame\, Jaime Scholnick\, Jason Williams\, Kenturah Davis\, Kim Schoenstadt\, Mara Lonner\, Michael C. DESCRIPTION:Meet Metro Art commissioned artist Moses X. Ball and hear about his art practice and his artwork for the future Westwood/UCLA Station. \nFollowing his presentation\, attendees can participate in a photo shoot with professional photographer Andreas Branch. Moses Ball will select portraits to develop into paintings that will become part of the final artwork for the station. \nAttendees will receive a free digital copy of their individual or family portrait. \nActivities will also include a live drumming performance and more. \nAll are welcome. Free and open to all ages! Light refreshments will be served. \n> Please RSVP via Eventbrite.\nAbout the Artist: \nMOSES X. BALL (b. 1977\, Los Angeles) aims to inspire communities and uplift the heroism of everyday people through his colorful and boldly rendered murals and mosaics. He is particularly committed to the South Central Los Angeles area where he grew up; his Heart of Hyde Park mural in the Crenshaw District and Gateway to Greatness mural in Exposition Park are among his best-known public artworks. Ball has partnered with corporations\, sports teams\, nonprofit organizations\, and schools across the country to create positive impact through public art and community outreach. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2001. In 2021\, he was chosen as one of the inaugural artists to participate in In the Paint\, a competitive fine art program launched by the LA Lakers to recognize and support the BIPOC (Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color) artist community in Los Angeles. \n\n\n\n\nAbout the Metro Purple (D Line) Extension Project: \nThe Purple (D Line) Extension will begin at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue\, extending westward for about 9 miles with seven new stations.
