Admission to this event is free. \nJoin Metro Art for a panel discussion with artist Eloy Torrez and veterans featured in his artwork in process\, Five Veterans’ Stories\, for the future Metro station at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. \nThe artist will share a video by Juliane Backmann documenting his interviews with the veterans in his artwork about their pre-military\, military and post-military lives\, highlighting their experiences during service as well as their individual life stories and creative passions. The veterans will then join the artist for a panel discussion on the importance of representing a wide array of veteran experiences\, including those of female veterans and veterans of color. They will also discuss how their military backgrounds have shaped their reintegration into civilian life and influenced their professions\, creative projects\, and other activities. \nThe panel will be moderated by filmmaker Mobolaji Olambiwonnu of Dreamseeker Media. \nA Q&A will follow the panel discussion. \nEloy Torrez is one of 27 artists/artist teams creating site-responsive\, architecturally integrated artworks for the D Line Subway Extension Project. \nGetting there\nGo Metro\nParking info: Free\, limited parking is available behind Patriotic Hall on Lebanon Street. DESCRIPTION:Here: Arts & Culture Along the K is a multimedia art exhibition showcasing the Metro Art K Line art program at the Museum of African American Art at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. \nHere honors what has been\, what is present and what is possible. Along with the exhibition\, a companion publication has been developed to celebrate arts and culture along the K Line through Metro Art commissions and collaborations shaped by over 150 arts and cultural organizations\, artists and creatives responding to distinct neighborhoods with bold imagination.
