Day 2 – MAPPING PERFORMANCE: 10 Years of Metro Art Presents

Metro Art Presents will commemorate 10 years of arts and cultural programming inspired by the greater Los Angeles area and the people it serves each day. Hosted at Los Angeles Union StationMAPPING Performance: 10 Years of Metro Art Presents will celebrate with percussion-driven music and dance drawing from Southeast Asian and Afro-Brazilian traditions, bringing the community together in the heart of Los Angeles at the heart of the LA Metro transit system.

Day 2 – which will be highly participatory – will highlight Afro-Brazilian traditions, such as capoeira, which blends music, dance, and acrobatics, as well as samba-reggae.

3-4:30PM: Rachel Hernandez – Samba Reggae Dance Instruction
5-5:15PM: Gathering followed by procession (Passenger Concourse)
5:20-6PM: Mestre Amen Santo: Capoeira Movement Instruction
6-7:30PM: Roda de Capoeira featuring Mestre Amen Santo, Mestra Minha Velha, Mestre Muito Tempo, Professor Saracuru and Kahlil Cummings
7:30-8PM: Roda de Samba led by Mestre Amen Santo and Mestra Minha Velha

From dancers to DJs to rock bands, Metro Art Presents invites the community to witness how Angelenos draw from their varied cultural backgrounds and traditions to create contemporary performing arts.
