Metro K Line! Fest at Leimert Park Plaza

Hey LA, you’re invited to celebrate the grand opening of the K Line! Enjoy live music and dance performance, food from some of the best eateries along the K Line, giveaways and more!

The K Line will open to the public at noon on Friday, October 7, 2022, and rides on all Metro rail, bus, and bike share will be free all weekend long!

Try out the new train, and hop off at Leimert Park Station and head over to Leimert Park Plaza for the K Line! Fest from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday only to celebrate together, free and open to all!

Seven stations, each with its own unique and original artwork!

Friday’s line up, presented by Metro Art, showcases: 

Leimert Park Plaza is located at 43rd Place and Degnan Boulevard, adjacent to the new Leimert Park Station.

About the new Metro K Line

The K Line was designed and built with the help of community input and local voices to provide a faster, more convenient and reliable way to connect to jobs, schools and the rich cultural places throughout these communities. The K Line will connect to the Metro E Line (Expo), which travels between downtown LA and Santa Monica. By 2024, the K Line will also connect to the new LAX/Metro Transit Center Station, the new Aviation/Century Station and the Metro C Line (Green).

About Metro K Line Artworks

The K Line features 14 artworks by 14 artists integrated at the plaza, concourse and platform levels commissioned by Metro Art. Riders will experience new neighborhood landmarks showcasing culture and community along the K Line, while navigating to the E Line (Expo) and beyond.

 

Artists include including Ingrid Calame, Eileen Cowin, Kenturah Davis, Dean Erdmann, Sherin Guirguis, Carlson Hatton, Mara Lonner, Geoff McFetridge, Rebeca Méndez, Erwin Redl, Kim Schoenstadt, Jaime Scholnick, Shinique Smith and Mickalene Thomas.
