Passing Through

Artist(s):
Catherine Opie, Passing Through

Project Description

Each grouping of images within Union Station represent not only details from the physical environment, but also time and passage, light and vision, and the romantic notion of traveling and greetings over the years.

Artist Statement

“The way that the light plays throughout the architecture of Union Station was a very large influence on this body of work. Although visitors will be passing through the very location that the light boxes represent, it is my belief that these photographs, through time, will begin to influence the very space that one inhabits, whether on a daily commute or a one-time trip. My desire as an artist is to create a reflection on Union Station so that others will begin to pick their heads up from their devices and engage with the environment around them.”
