On Saturday, June 20, 2026, join Metro Art at LACMA’s Block Party & Art Parade, a large-scale public celebration marking the opening of the David Geffen Galleries. Metro bus and rail service bring visitors within steps of the festivities, and Metro Art will be right in the middle of the action with the Metro Art Bus stationed along Wilshire Boulevard in front of LACMA throughout the day. As LA’s arts connector, Metro Art invites visitors to discover art above and below ground through immersive experiences, public art tours and one of the largest public art collections in Los Angeles.

Metro Art: Wilshire/Fairfax Station Tours | 11 AM, 12 PM, 1 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM, & 4 PM
The block party may be above ground, but some of the best art is underground. Join Metro Art for free guided tours of the newly opened Wilshire/Fairfax Station, home to large-scale artworks by Karl Haendel, Ken Gonzales-Day and Susan Silton. The tours will last approximately 20 minutes. Learn about the artists’ creative processes and discover how public art transforms the everyday transit experience.

• Karl Haendel’s Hands and Things features larger-than-life drawings that invite riders to pause, observe and reconsider their surroundings.
• Ken Gonzales-Day’s Urban Excavation: Ancestors, Avatars, Bodhisattvas, Buddhas, Casts, Copies, Deities, Figures, Funerary Objects, Gods, Guardians, Mermaids, Metaphors, Mothers, Possessions, Sages, Spirits, Symbols, and Other Object is an expansive glass-tile mural inspired by objects from LACMA’s permanent collection and the station’s location along one of Los Angeles’ most culturally rich corridors.
• Susan Silton’s  WE,OUR,US explores individuality, language and shared public space through messages presented in English, Korean and Spanish.
