Off to Work is a self-portrait depicting the artist on his way to work at Art Center in Pasadena. In this painting the artist shows himself commuting with all of his art materials – a common practice amongst many Metro riders – that speaks to the possibility of education and a better life.   

About the Artist

MIGUEL ANGEL REYES (b. 1964, Colima, Mexico) earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Otis Art Institute. He is a portrait and figurative painter, muralist, printmaker and illustrator. His paintings have been included in exhibitions throughout the United States and in Germany and Korea. His work is in the permanent collections of the Laguna Art Museum and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, among others.
